Map It ๐Ÿ“

Welcome to our interactive mapping tool! Click on a country below to start mapping power infrastructure directly in JOSM. ๐Ÿš€ If this is your first time mapping, go through the starter-kit tutorial we prepared for you.
Please use the #ohmygrid hashtag in your changeset to show your support for our initiative when you make an edit!

  • Remember to allow remote control in Edit>Preferences>Remote Control and to disable all ad blocker.
  • Please read the common mistakes section in the starter-kit!
  • Certain countries should not be mapped on a national level (eg. Brasil, USA, India), but you can zoom in to click on regions/states.

You can select what power infrastructure you want by clicking on the different choices. The Default Transmission (90 kV+) pulls all transmission power infrastructure and should be used when mapping generally. The repository with all the overpass queries can be found here. The Osmose, Global energy monitor, and Wikidata buttons are hint layer tools, which you can read about in our tools page.

โš ๏ธPlease do NOT copy any data from hint layer directly into your OpenStreetMap data layer. Every data point in your OpenStreetMap data layer must be manually set and verified. The metadata must also be verified against compatible licensed sources or by people on the ground. If you cannot verify the data using satellite images or any other compatible source, please do not add this information from hint layers. This may seem like a high burden at first, but it ensures the high quality of OpenStreetMap.โš ๏ธ

๐Ÿ” Below you can find "Starter powerlines" where we have found some lines which you can map if you are new.
Please check the box if you mapped this line, so as to not waste other people's time! Once part of the community, we can grant you access to this spreadsheet so you can add other lines if you want.
